COVID-19 pandemic has urged all businesses to digitally transform. One unexpected consequence of COVID-19 is companies to realize the benefits of digital transformation. Now, digital transformation is more necessary than ever for all business during COVID-19.

Telin, as a digital telco company, has built the technology infrastructure in place to allow secure access to the resources and information required for remote workforce support. All of our employees were already well versed using email, chat, and even video conference to communicate with colleagues and customers in other locations overseas. Hence since there was increasing trend of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia on mid of March 2020, it just need several days for our crisis management team to mandating all Telin employees adopt a work from home policy.

Sales and marketing towards digital transformation

It is now the best time to shift our sales and marketing teams towards digital transformation. Digital transformation should now be put first when it comes to selling and marketing. In sales and marketing, creativity and innovation are needed, and the digital transformation is an important element of this.

With a great digital sales and marketing team and process, now — and in the future — is a huge competitive advantage. Besides using video conference to communicate regularly, we have implemented several digital tools to collaborate each others in internal business process. We are using Hootsuite, Salesforce, Slack, Power BI and our internal Enterprise System to keep in touch and coordinate workflow between teams.

Global marketing leaders reported a huge budget cuts in marketing because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Similar with that situation, in Telin, we postponed almost 50% of our marketing budget to Q3 and Q4 2020, while leveraging and boosting our digital marketing channel in Q2 2020. Not only any offline marketing and event that we already cancelled our participation, but also we have postponed our biggest annual event — BATIC (Bali Annual Telkom International Conference) — from March 2020 to September 2020, considering the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

Since more people working remotely and spend more time at home, the time people spend on computers is increasing. Now, we are more focusing to strengthen our digital marketing channel through our website (www.telin.net) and all of our social media account :

Prepare for the new normal

This pandemic will certainly change the way business is done. In the long term, market and working dynamics are going to change tremendously. According to a Gartner survey of 317 CFOs, 74% said they will move at least 5% of their previously on-site workforce to permanently work remote post-COVID-19.

Many CFOs have realized the productivity of remote working employees and how it will play an essential role in the future after COVID-19. Just be prepare the new normal of Working From Home business environment in the near future, with teams switching to digital tools and platforms to stay in touch and collaborate.
