Pinterest is seen as one of the right social media platforms for sharing ideas and inspiration. In business, Pinterest has also become part of a brand or product promotion strategy on social media. Well, if Search Engine Optimization or SEO has become an important part of a business’s digital marketing strategy, Pinterest becomes a very important social media channel, both for B2C (business-to-consumer) and B2B (business-to-business) companies.

According to one study, only one in four B2B companies use Pinterest to distribute its content. Whereas Pinterest is one of the potential marketing channels for B2B companies in bringing leads, and become a source of traffic to the website, which ultimately increases sales. Research has also shown that Pinterest is more effective at bringing traffic to websites than other social media, including Facebook or Instagram. When compared to Instagram, Pinterest has the ability to add a link on each Pin (a term for a post or feed on Pinterest), a feature instagram doesn’t have that only allows links to be embedded in instagram bio.

That’s why as marketers in Telin, in a B2B company, I started using Pinterest as a ‘whiteboard company’, not just a ‘personal board’. I hope Telin’s Pinterest Business Account social media accounts in @Telin_Official will become a rich board with infographics, data visualization, product and service information, as well as ideas and inspiration in the world of work. This Pinterest account will complement the five social media that Telin already owns on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.

Unlike other social media platforms that display content by post date, Pins on Pinterest have a longer runtime. Older Pins often bring greater impressions and engagement. So over time, old Pins will appear more often and bring traffic even months after they’re posted.

What about the number of Pinterest users around the world?

Based on data from socialmediatoday.com, Pinterest users worldwide were 367 million (Q1 2020), with QoQ growth of 9.55%, or grew beyond other social media growth. In Indonesia, Pinterest users are 34%, or above the number of Snapchat or Tiktok users.

Now that you know the potential of Pinterest, it might be time to create a Pinterest Business Account for your business :)
